Another loved one has passed on. I don't think Carol and I ever met except maybe once at Wilma's home. Wilma (deceased) is my husband, David's, aunt. Carol is her daughter, as are Ina, Joan, and Ruth (deceased). Wilma's sons are Joseph and Robert. These are my husband's cousins, the only other Hackenbergs that we are aware of. Carol and I would occasionally talk on the phone or send emails to each other.
Carol Hackenberg McNeely passed away this past week (possibly on Sunday). Her husband, Mike, sent a brief email to me to let me know. My sister-in-law, Juanita Mabee Pressler, had received a phone call from Joe Hackenberg. That's how she found out. (I was calling her to let her know.)
Carol, you will be missed! I have enjoyed our conversations, whether by phone or email. Thank you for all the work you did to put together a family history.
To Mike, Carol's children, and any Hackenbergs reading this, David and I regret your loss, and hope you will be comforted quickly. May God richly bless each of you.
